Back to Top Coaches vs. Cancer Fall Ball Round Robin
With Jake Mendlinger '08 abroad this fall, the three goalies on the roster this Fall each started a scrimmage. John-Paul Cashiola '10 (Houston, TX) gave a strong performance in the opening game, with a number dramatic point-blank saves. Ian Holmes '10 (Seattle, WA) played well between the pipes against Washington & Jefferson. KC Peterson '07 (Ridgefield, CT) had an outstanding day in his start as the Squirrels beat Cabrini College. On defense, freshmen Matt Starke, Jordan Daniels, Matt Dooley, Grant Firestone, Eric Brown and Jake Kastner joined Joel Censer '08, John Magovern '08, Ben Polak '07, and Jamey van Opstal. Though still learning to play together, this young group of defensemen showed just how athletic they are and the potential they have this spring. Not on the fall roster were captain Steve Selsor '07 and Matt Handel '08 who both played soccer this fall. In the midfield, freshmen David Lawrenece, Andrew Kim, Noel Capozzalo, and Alex Guy joined a strong returning group including Pat Barry '07, Dean Granoff '08, Matt Thorne-Fitzgerald '08, Matt Turnier '09, Peter Hannapel '09, Eric Carlson '08, Zac Arbitman '09, and Derek Lief '08 who returned from a year away. This deep group continued to improve throughout the fall and proved today that they are going to contribute more to the team than simply bringing the ball from defense and getting it to the attackmen. Consistent midfield scoring on the day has the team excited for what is to come this Spring. Freshman Patrick Kaszubski entered the fall injured and expects to return the fall of his Sophomore year. At attack, freshmen Andrew Devlin and Brian Fleishhacker joined the veteran core of Max Tcheyan '07, Mike Distler '08, Adam Goldstien '07, Shane Hafer '08, and Jeremy Golan '09. An exciting group who scored big goals and controlled the day's tempo gave us the advantage throughout the scrimmages. Thank you everyone who joined us on the sidelines and in the alumni
game. We look forward to seeing you this spring. Haverford Completes Fall Ball Practices, Prepares for Coach vs. Cancer Round Robin
